Congratulations

Our recruiting for 2016 began several weeks ago. We went to the high schools and talked with the development counselors, placed ads in the papers, made some calls, and had a great response of more than 100 applicants.

As you discovered, our application process turned out to be an audition. We’re looking for young women and men to join our cast of characters. But not just anybody, we need rising stars who are

  • Very enthusiastic
  • Energetic
  • Eager
  • Ready and able to entertain our customers
  • and create a memorable experiences whenever they come to Uncle Ray’s Dairyland.

And wow, you have impressed us. Congratulations, you made it. You’re members of our 2016 recruiting class selected from more than 100 applicants. Now how great is that!

It began many years ago and started the same way … learning all about the business of making artisan, small batch ice cream and serving it in a unique way to Uncle Ray’s loyal customer. Basic Training Program for New Team Members

Uncle Ray’s Way is the first step in preparing you to be a member of the Dairyland team. Throughout the course you will be understudies wearing a distinctive uniform as a trainee. At various milestones during the course, you will gradually take on more and more responsibilities and tasks. Upon graduation, you will receive certificate of completion and the full uniform, t-shirt and cap.

Training Objectives

Here’s what we’re hoping to accomplish in the next two months. The course was designed around these specific objectives:

Know and Understand Objectives

Upon completion of this training program, you will know and understand:

  • the basic business principles that form the foundation of Uncle Ray’s Dairyland operations.
  • the fundamental belief relating to Customer Care and its rationale.
  • our products and what distinguishes them from the competition.
  • our house rules and their relationship to:
    • food safety
    • efficient operations
    • predictable reliable execution of processes

Skills and Capabilities Objectives

Upon completion of Uncle Ray’s Way, a basic training program, you will be able to DO the following:

  • interact with the customer using recommended
    • eye contact
    • welcoming body language
    • conversation – based on “winning words” and proven scripts
  • scoop ice cream
  • serve soft serve
  • prepare the following:
    • Shakes
    • Chunky Shakes
    • Blasts
    • Sundaes and cones

Course Strategies

In order to support the terminal objectives, the eLearning course will provide:

  • need-to-know information by way of the online pages and the Training Manual
  • case study videos online showing recommended verbal and non-verbal interactions with customers
  • live and video demonstrations of correct way of preparing and serving treats
  • live and video demonstrations of recommended procedures for house maintenance
